When you make a mistake, it’s okay to be sad.

When you mess up here and there, it’s okay to be mad.

Not being perfect doesn’t make you bad.

In a way, not being perfect is a reason to be glad.

Because if you were perfect, you could never burn toast.

And if you were perfect, there would be no room to grow.

You would have to know everything and keep it all straight.

You could never snort, sneeze, or sniffle, and you could never be late.

You’d have to right every wrong and win every game

At a thousand miles off, you’d need perfect aim.

You’d be responsible for everything and could be guilty of none.

Whenever dark clouds roll in, you’d have to make light like the sun.

Even superheroes aren’t perfect, which is good news all around.

Because if they were perfect, they’d have to solve every problem and never slow down.

To have weakness is to be human, and that’s exactly what you are.

To forget and fall short isn’t fun, but being perfect would be way too hard.

So be you, be imperfect. Just remember these four things when you wake.

Feel your feelings, say you’re sorry, ask forgiveness, and learn from your mistakes.
